ABOUT MIFTWA

MIFTWA is the abbreviation of Malaysian Indian Film and Television Worker’s Association. It was founded in 1997 as an informal grouping of Indian Film and Television Artistes and Technicians. Later, it was officially registered under Session 7 Organization Act 1966 on the 24th August 2011. MIFTWA  acts as a Dialogue Partner with Government Agencies and other relevant authorities on issues and projects relating to the Malaysian Indian Film and Television industry. MIFTWA has ventured into several non-profit activities which bring benefits to its registered members as well as non-registered members. Various Skill Training workshop and Seminars have been conducted successfully by MITFWA where the participants were senior artistes and technicians, new upcoming artistes and technicians and students, as well as those keen in joining the Film and Television Industry.

Research about film and television is seen as an important medium in translating cultural and social ideology of a society that affect ideas, values, cognitive and cultural behavior. Therefore, film and television play specific roles in preserving culture and religion in our civilization. As digital media technology evolves continually, the possibilities to learn various aspects of Film Language (technical proficiency, aesthetic understanding and innovation within the professional field) continue to expand for new aspiring young generations of filmmakers and television content creators. Fundamentals include learning how to operate video equipment. There are various technical expertise to be acquired such as camera operations, editing, lighting, sound, production management, makeup and post –production.

MIFTWA has an ambitious vision for our younger generations to meet the challenges of the digital world in film and television production, as it is today and what is to come tomorrow. What defines this world most singularly, perhaps, is the absolute knowledge that it is a changing world. Our Association’s core purpose aims at shaping young filmmakers who will be confident to take life’s challenges ahead on anywhere in the world.
